Former high school and college standout headed for 2019 Professional Tour
Chesterfield, MI – When we caught up with Jackie Evans, she was spending a few days at the Kegel Training Center in Florida getting ready to launch her pro bowling career on the 2019 Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour.

Always a high achiever, Jacqueline Evans believes in being prepared for whatever lies ahead. It is that winning attitude that got her through high school and college, and there is no reason to change a winning formula as she gets ready to compete against the best bowlers in the world on the pro tour.

In 2013-14, Evans was Senior Class President and an honor student at Minuteman High School in Lexington, Massachusetts when she decided to attend the 2014 Turbo Tech Collegiate Expo in New York; and it was there she was recruited by Lawrence Tech University to be a part of their women’s bowling team. LTU awarded her both and academic and bowling scholarship.

“I didn’t know anything about college bowling and I had never heard of Lawrence Tech before that Turbo Collegiate Expo,” said Evans. “That is where it all started for me.”

“It was the last school we visited with,” said Jackie’s mom Sharon, “and I remember that the Lawrence Tech guys just about jumped over the table when they saw Jackie.”

Jump ahead five years, and Evans is now a grad student at the University of Connecticut on the verge of earning her PhD in Pharmaceutical Science which she hopes will lead to a research and development position in the corporate world.

After two very successful years at Lawrence Tech, Evans was offered more scholarships and a chance to bowl at Monmouth University much closer to her home. There she earned NTCA All American honors and became MVP of her team in her senior season. Monmouth is also a featured College in the Turbo Collegiate Expo.

“After I won USBC Junior Gold in 2016, I got more scholarship awards and was able to get my degrees in Biomedical Engineering , so I decided to go all the way in grad school,” said Evans.

Evans is also hoping to go all the way in bowling, but does not want to set her goals on the tour too high. “Rookie of the year would be nice,” but I really just want to bowl well and be competitive,” said Evans.

She plans to bowl in 13 of the 14 PWBA Tour events this season. She will miss one because it comes during exam week at school.

“We love sharing the success stories of our students,” said Turbo Bowling Accessories President Lori Mraz. “To realize that students from our early years, 2011, 12, 13 are now young 20-something adults and going on to join the pro ranks is pretty rewarding. Guiding lifelong participation in our sport has always been a primary motivation for our team. We’re very proud of Jackie and all she’s achieved in her youth career. We wish her all the success on the PWBA Tour this season.”
