Saturday, December 12 will be a special day for Michigan’s youth bowlers. On that day, young bowlers participating in the Michigan Junior Masters event at Sunnybrook Lanes in Sterling Heights will have the opportunity to attend a free clinic featuring Carolyn Dorin-Ballard and Lou Marquez. The clinic is sponsored by Turbo Bowling Accessories.
Dorin-Ballard is one of the best bowlers of all time, earning more than 20 professional titles in her career. Marquez is a USBC Gold Level coach and director of the Turbo Tech Training Center at Turbo’s world headquarters in nearby Chesterfield.
The Clinic will be titled “Ready Your Game for Sport Bowling and Junior Gold Competition” and it will precede the 8th annual Sunnybrook Sport Challenge Tournament, an event which will qualify the highest place finisher (male and female) a paid entry into the 2010 Junior Gold Championships.
The clinic will run 90 minutes starting at 9:30 am. Dorin-Ballard will share secrets she has learned in dealing with tough conditions around the world, and talk about her transition from youth bowler to professional star. Marquez will share some of the training methods employed to prepare for success on difficult tournament conditions.
“I’m excited to have the chance to meet some of Michigan’s best young bowlers,” said Dorin-Ballard. “Turbo always steps up to support youth bowling, and we need to help the sport grow and encourage kids to bowl more and earn scholarships in events like this to continue their education. As a member of the Turbo staff, I feel very fortunate to be in a position to do that.”
“Carolyn is a tremendous ambassador for the sport of bowling. We are delighted she is able to come to Michigan and share her knowledge and experience with our local youth.” Said Lori Tessmar, President of Marketing & Sales.
The clinic is free for all participants, but requires pre-registration. To register and find more information about the clinic and the Michigan Junior Masters, visit the website
