2013 Turbo Collegiate Expo Will Roll
July 8-10

02/04/2013

In early 2011, Turbo Bowling Accessories President Lori Mraz and her team at Turbo introduced a new idea to the bowling industry; an event that would bring together student bowlers aspiring to bowl on college teams, collegiate bowling coaches, top bowling product companies, and professional bowlers/ coaches, many of whom were college stars before becoming top pros.

The Turbo Tech Collegiate Expo quickly became a hot topic in the industry, and its success in the first two years has enhanced Turbo's reputation as a leading innovative company in bowling.

"Programs like this are truly the heart of our commitment to the sport," said Mraz. "High school and college bowling are the brightest stars in our industry, and the Collegiate Expo allows us to give back and promote a lifelong interest in the sport through education for young bowlers and their families. We are extremely proud of the young athletes we have touched and look forward to watching them grow through the years."

With that commitment, Turbo is announcing that 3rd Annual Turbo Tech Collegiate Expo will be staged July 8-10, 2013 at Sterling Lanes in Sterling Heights, Michigan. After two years at Mark Voight's Super Bowl in Canton, the Expo will be moved to Voight's Sterling Lanes to make it more convenient for families coming to the Detroit area for the Junior Gold and Youth National Championships in the days following the event.

Students, parents and coaches attending The Turbo Tech Collegiate Expo will enjoy 2.5 full days of on-lane and classroom instruction, seminars, and information with some of the best bowlers and coaches in the world.

The 2013 line-up of professional bowlers and instructors include: Diandra Asbaty, Jeff Carter, Joe Ciccone, Jason Coach, Carolyn Dorin-Ballard, Mike Fagan, Clara Guerrero, Mika Koivuniemi, Bill O'Neill, Mike Wolfe along with Turbo Tech Coaches Lou Marquez and Bob Learn Jr. Bob Learn Jr. Sports Psychologist and author, Dr. Dean Hinitz will also be back to offer his expertise on the mental aspects of the game and to give great advice to parents of student bowlers.

Last year, more than 130 student athletes from 16 states attended, along with more than 20 top college coaches. All of the college coaches met the young bowlers and their parents, talked to them about college life on and off the lanes, and many discussed scholarship opportunities.

University of Nebraska Head Coach Bill Straub was especially impressed. "This is a very classy production," said Straub. "I fully expect to see many of the players from this event prominently helping college bowling teams for many years to come."

Joining Turbo as sponsors of Collegiate Expo lll will be The Bowlers Journal, Brunswick, The Detroit Sports Commission, Dexter, DV8, Innovative Bowling Products, Kegel, Michigan Junior Masters Association, Motiv, On the Ball Bowling, Red Robin Restaurants, Roto Grip, Storm, Turbo Bowling Accessories, Metro Detroit USBC and 900 Global.
